Complex C Reformulation

We heard you!

In the past, we have received some complaints regarding our Complex C Serum bottle. We are happy to announce that we have changed to a new airless pump that will give better control over the amount of product dispensed.

We would also like to take this opportunity to introduce our new, improved formulation.  Vitamin C has long been touted for its benefits of anti-inflammation, stimulating the growth of collagen to restore the structure of skin cells, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines and as a lightening agent.  However, Vitamin C in its native form, L-ascorbic acid, is a highly unstable compound that is prone to degradation when exposed to light, heat, or air. This causes the vitamin C to be less effective or even ineffective and is also the reason behind discoloration of products containing vitamin C.

To overcome the instability of vitamin C, scientists have developed vitamin C derivatives that are more stable and provide comparable benefits.  There are different vitamin C derivatives found in products such as ascorbyl palmitate or ascorbyl glucoside.  In reformulating our Clinical Complex C, we were looking for a vitamin C derivative that is not only stable but also has a high percentage conversion rate to the original L-ascorbic acid form.

Vitamin C derivative Molecular Weight % Vitamin C *
Ascorbic Acid 100 100
Sodium Ascorbate 182 95
Ethyl Ascorbic Acid 324 86
Ascorbyl Palmitate 414 40
Ascorbyl Glucoside 338 52
Ascorbyl Palmitate 414 40

(* = conversion percentage to l-ascorbic acid)

Based on research and our tests, ethyl ascorbic acid is one of the most stable among the available vitamin C derivatives as well as highly effective with more than 80% metabolized to pure l-ascorbic acid.

Unlike pure L-ascorbic acid, ethyl ascorbic acid is also both water soluble and oil soluble which helps to increase the penetration of the vitamin C into the skin.

SESHA Skin Therapy is dedicated to using the highest grade and most effective actives in all of our products.  As a result of our research, we are now using Ethyl Ascorbic Acid (INCI name, 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid ) as the vitamin C in all of our formulations.

Not just vitamin C…

Vitamin C is just one part of the equation in our Clinical Complex C.  We have formulated a product with a powerhouse of active ingredients that when combined with our patented delivery technology increases epidermal thickness, elasticity, restore the skin’s dermal structure, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles for smoother, younger-looking skin.

Matrixyl 3000
Activates the skin’s natural production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid to aid in the reduction of wrinkles and other signs of aging.

Line Factor
A hibiscus extract with bio-mimetic protection of Fibroblast Growth Factor-2 which produces an activation of glycosaminoglycans and collagen synthesis to rejuvenate skin texture and density.

A powerful antioxidant activated by heat and light that inhibits ROS (reactive oxygen species) which lead to oxidative stress and cell damage, while protecting cells and skin from UVA damage. This helps prevent the visible signs of photo-aging such as spots, wrinkles and dryness.

ACB Sirtuin Complex
Promotes preservation of proper DNA structure and the repair of damaged DNA by increasing sirtuin activity
